Here is my crafty space that Bryan built into a recessed wall of my livingroom using mostly all scrap materials that we found at yard sales, and had lying around from other home improvement projects. As you can see the actual desk top is an old door that I had used as a display when I had the store. It had been given to me by a very special friend so using it in this capacity is awesome for me! It seats 2 people comfortably, with my large paper cutter in between us. The cool thing about it is, of course the fact that I can close it up when I am finished, since it does in fact, reside in my livingroom. I purchased the plex-glass from a warehouse here in Boise that supplies me with all of my plex-needs. LOVE those guys!
The 3 pendant lights were purchased in a clearance bin at Home Depot, and incidentally, the restaurant I worked at during this time had another set of 3 going to the dump, so now I have a matching set on the other side of my livingroom, just like we meant to do it...haha! The stools were purchased at a little antique shop close to my house and they were shorter than a normal stool, which meant they were PERFECT for me and this space! They were so inexpensive and were the perfect color/material, I snatched them right up!
The cabinets have plenty of space and I try to go through it often to reorganize. The shelves had unfinished edges so I used my hot glue gun and covered them with my favorite, black/white polka dot ribbon. LOVE how that fits my personality.
The wall was an old wood paneled wall so I crackle painted it to make it look like an old fence. The old saw blade was one that my brother had given me from the saw mill in Montana where he and my daddy worked together. I think it is very "Anthropologie!) Because it is metal, it serves a really cool magnet board.
I surround myself with beautiful things that I love, that have meaning, and that inspire me. I LOVE my space and even though I do not have a dedicated room like most people, (1230 sq ft and 4 children = no extra space!) I feel very lucky to have this for myself when I need it. I think Bryan did an amazing job!
OMG, I love that! Love the cabinet that you can close up when not in use...and the "table" space...I wondered what kind of surface that was on it...very cool. I love things like the saw blade...I had framed some keys that belonged to my dad in my space in Idaho. It is motivating to be surrounded by things you love. I do like those giant clips you have on the side where you can display your layouts! I remember those from the store...very fun!! Good for you that you have carved out such an adorable nook for yourself!!
Oh, and P.S. CONGRATULATIONS on your first stitching project! I'm glad you didn't let any "fear" stop you from taking that first, well, stitch! LOL. I can hardly wait to see your project...do share!!! :)
