We had such a fun little Valentine's Day! Bryan got back from Texas and had a really beautiful card ready for me when I picked him up! I was definitely impressed that he was even able to think about that while he was gone since his trip was quite nerve wracking, (more on that later). I had found this cute little recipe in Bella's "Pink Princess Cookbook" for easy fortune cookies. They are made out of pre-made pie crust, (which Bryan LOVES to eat baked with cinnamon and sugar). So I made him a dozen little fortune cookies with some fun little fortunes inside. Those were waiting for him when he got home.
My mom came over for dinner and we did our weekly homemade pizzas that night instead, but did heart shaped ones!! Super fun! The kids loved it too, of course! We watched a total chick flick, (27 Dresses) and then Bryan and I went to bed and my mom and the girls played cards into the late night hours.
Very fun family time, and it is funny how after you have kids, some Valentine's Days are just so much more fun spent as a family instead of on a "hot date" to some expensive, overpriced, overcrowded, overrated restaurant. Bryan and I do "date nights" pretty regularly and it is way more fun and way less crowded and crazy. The other day a guy and his wife came into the little boutique that I work in. They are regular customers so we chatted for a bit until she decided on a few dresses to purchase. He wasn't buying the dresses for her for any special reason, not even Valentine's Day, they just happened to be downtown and she just happened to find some things she liked. I asked if they had any special plans for Vday, and they said they didn't really celebrate it because he said, and I quote, "If a guy feels like he needs to do something special on Valentine's Day he isn't doing something right! He should be treating her special and doing things for her all year, not just on February 14th!" His wife concurred with a sweet look in his direction. I thought that was so cool and impressive! I think it would be so neat if more guys thought that way. Luckily for me Bryan is a bit like that. Plus my birthday is on the 17th, so we tend to place a little more value on the fun of that event instead, because you all know how I believe every adult should have a "Birthday Week"!!!
Hope everyone else got to spend Valentine's Day doing exactly what they wanted to do, whether it was a hot date, or family time, or whatever!!
